Healthwatch

Set up by the Health and Social Care Act 2012, Healthwatch is a voluntary network of individuals, groups and communities who want to work together to improve local health and social care services by influencing the commissioners of services.

Healthwatch is inclusive and anyone can get involved, both young and old, individuals and groups who want to help shape their local health and social care services. It works by:

  • Engaging with and supporting local people to say what they think of local health and social care services - what is good and what needs improving
  • Picking up trends in health and social care that need attention
  • Training members to undertake 'enter-and-view' visits to health and social care bases and developing their awareness on issues such as safeguarding of vulnerable adults, carers and the autistic spectrum
  • Helping to keep the membership/public updated about health and social care issues and any consultations taking place.

If you wish to find out more or to get involved, please contact your local Healthwatch.  In Luton, this is Healthwatch Luton
