Update on provision of non-urgent transport services in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Luton

The East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST), the new care taker provider of non-urgent patient transport services, is putting in place new arrangements to provide transport services in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Luton.

All patients who are eligible for patient transport, and have transport booked for theirnext out-patient appointment, should call EEAST’s contact centre on 01603-481208 to confirm their transport arrangements. Eligible patients shouldalso use this number for making bookings.

We are encouraging patients who are able to make their own way to their appointments to do so if possible.

The priority for everyone concerned is to get the new service fully established to meet patients’ needs, and making sure patients know how to access the service.

We are aware that there have been concerns about the quality of the transport service fromthe previous provider and we are committed to making sure that future servicesmeet the needs of patients.
